(Teesdale to Weardale)
Walked 6 miles of The Teesdale Way from Barny. We just walked through field after field of sheep with occasional views of the river far below through the trees.

Not once did I get anywhere near to the water. I have walked several sections of this official long distance path and find very little to commend. It fails to meet its potential.
From Egglestone I followed the B6272 over Egglestone Common for ten miles. Boring walking but the views were superb and the road so quiet that Gyp was off the lead.
I saw a gamekeeper's gibbet, something I havn't seen for years. It shows that the gamekeeper is proficient and doing his job.

Thirty yards on I saw another but this had 44 little furry gentlemen on parade. Moleskin trousers anyone?
Nearing Stanhope I took a non-existent path over Snowhope Moor to Eastgate. GPS was essential. On arriving in Eastgate I found that the campsite was now statics only. So we had to trudge on another 3 miles to Westgate.
Went to the pub at 7pm to get first meal of the day only to find they do not allow dogs in. I had to sit outside on the coldest night for weeks but the fish and shrimp pie was enormous and well worth the hassle.
