Whole day spent walking along the Staffordshire & Worcester Canal. I knew it would be a long day so I got up early and set off at 8.00am. Basically it was head down and walk all day. Dead easy walking a good surface, no map reading, and ideal weather - hazy sunshine with a light breeze
I really enjoy canal walking and the red sandstone looked brilliant in the early sunshine.

I enjoy admiring the Victorian brickwork and ironwork.

The first ten miles were spent walking along a narrow spit of land between the River Stour and the canal. Very often the land was less than 20 yards wide.

We are used to shepherding sheep in front of us in confined spaces but today we had herons flying up in front of us, settling down 100 yards away then repeating the process. One settled on a signpost for me to photograph. (Yes it is real - it flew away just after I took this photo.

Finished at 6.00pm and so knackered I decided to give the pub a miss. Campsite very basic - tap and WC (no sink or shower!)
