My journey has been a personal challenge but I am well aware of how much help I have received from others.
I would like to thank everyone who has followed my progress, especially those that took the time to write comments on my Blog or text me. It really did help to spur me on when the going got tough.
I really appreciate the visits I got from my wife Zoe, son Chris and daughter Rachel with boyfriend Dave. Thanks also to my three mates, Richard, Ray and Pete who visited me in Kettlewell.
My son Chris very kindly drove us down to Lands End and also came with Zoe to John O'Groats to collect us.
Finally I would like to make it clear that without Zoe's constant support and encouragement I could not have fulfilled my lifelong ambition. Apart from visiting and picking us up, she has organised and sent out our weekly parcels, bought extra kit to replace items broken or lost and generally kept base camp running. She has looked after our home and garden alone while I have been away and I know that she has a list of jobs as long as my arm for when I get back.

Well done Pete! Congratulations on a wonderful achievement. It's been a pleasure to follow your journey and your blog has been a really entertaining. All the kids at school have been avidly following your experience and are desperate to see you and talk to you about it.
ReplyDeleteYou've certainly earned a long rest now...don't worry about Zoe's list of jobs - they've waited this long so they can wait a while longer, eh? ...!

Gyp, Gyp, Hurray!
ReplyDeleteHi Pete and Zoe, hi Gyp!
ReplyDeleteBeen back in reality about a month and a half now how's it feeling??
Took me over a month to actually believe we'd walked all that way, the clicking painful knees should have given that away!
Alfie bounced back remarkably after the walk, that dog is really amazing, he never once looked sad or behaved badly upon his return home!
On the home front Ruth ( the missus) is one week away from starting her cycle of lejog, can't wait to see the two ends of the country again, can't help but feel a bit bitersweet about it though, the itch to abandon real life through on a pack and disappear odd very strong, glad I'm to skint to do that else I'd be of!
Well I won't waste any more of your time if you read this!
Keep in touch tho!
Andy and Alfie ledog
Still chasing the horizon!
