15 miles from Dunkeld to Pitlochry
Drizzle/light rain all day without any respite. Overcast again. I've not seen a shadow for three days - not 1 minute of sunshine. So it's wet dog in wet tent again. Unfortunately my 30 year old tent is leaking, despite another recent application of Fabsil. I've put clear plastic over the top of the inner which helps. Another problem is that Gyp presses on the inner so that it touches the condensation that collects under the outer.
I also have to use a wet towel to dry myself with after shower. (My towel is a tiny kitchen towel/tea towel bought to replace the useless microfibre towel I had bought).
Equipment that has to stay dry (sleeping bag, phone, radio etc) is wrapped up in plastic bags. So unfortunately no photos today.
After leaving Dunkeld by going a short distance West along a B-road I headed due North, climbing steadily for over a mile up a forest track. It would have been a lovely walk in good weather. The trail levelled out and then emerged from the forest to continue due North to Guay. I then followed a good cycle-track to Ballinluig.
Here we crossed the A9 and then two rivers (River Tummel and River Tay) which converge just below the bridges.
From here the cycle-track (NCN 7) continued along a single-track lane all the way to the campsite.
Braved continued rain and went into Pitlochry for a haggis supper. Excellent! Finished off evening by sitting outside under giant umbrella (smokers' spot) drinking two pints of Ruddles County. A good end to a dismal day.
